What you will do
- Develop and run experiments, analysis routines, and quantitative models to characterize superconducting fluxonium qubits.
- Perform coherence and noise characterization (T1, T2, Ramsey, echo, noise spectroscopy) to identify decoherence mechanisms and recommend improvements.
- Develop, calibrate, and validate high-fidelity single and two-qubit gates, reset, and readout using standard benchmarking protocols.
- Apply error mitigation techniques and diagnose scaling limitations in control, calibration, readout, and noise.
- Collaborate with designers on device parameter studies, simulations, and measurement primitives for improved processor performance.
- Share results through documentation and contribute to Lisp software infrastructure for qubit and processor modeling, calibration, and operation.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. in quantum computing or related experimental field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience with measurement and control of qubits using microwave techniques or related quantum control methods.
- Strong critical thinking, technical problem-solving, and independent research skills.
- Strong software development for experimental automation, data acquisition, and analysis; willingness to learn new tools.
- Collaborative mindset, excellent communication skills, and ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
Nice to have
- Background in superconducting devices, gate-model processor development, device fabrication, RF engineering, or low-noise electronics.
- Experience calibrating and characterizing fluxonium qubits.
- Familiarity with architecture design for low crosstalk and scalable two-qubit coupling.
- Expertise in cryogenic microwave engineering and troubleshooting RF setups.
- Knowledge of superconducting qubit fabrication techniques.
- Experience with version control and collaborative software development.
