Salary: $81,400 - $129,500 annually

What you will do

• Analyze complex mainframe applications (COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, VSAM, MQ) to extract business rules and data flows.
• Design and implement modernization strategies including re-hosting, re-platforming, and re-architecting.
• Refactor legacy COBOL logic into modern Java using automated tools and manual re-engineering.
• Modernize JCL-based batch processes into cloud-native frameworks such as Spring Batch.
• Apply incremental modernization patterns like strangler-fig and coexistence models to minimize migration risk.
• Ensure functional parity and data integrity between legacy and modernized systems.

Requirements

• 7-10 years of proven experience in mainframe engineering and managing large-scale enterprise initiatives.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
• Experience with AI-based transformation accelerators for code conversion and pattern detection.
• Demonstrated success leading modernization or transformation programs.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid architectures.
• Experience modernizing batch workloads using orchestration tools like Airflow, Step Functions, or Argo.
• Background in mainframe-heavy industries such as banking, insurance, or government.
• Certifications such as IBM z/OS Administrator/Developer, cloud certifications, ITIL, PMP, or Scrum Master.
