TL;DR

Senior Software Engineer (Distributed Systems): Building and optimizing high-performance auction logic for the Monetize real-time advertising platform with an accent on scalability, algorithmic efficiency, and low-latency processing. Focus on designing distributed servers capable of handling millions of QPS and processing terabytes of data daily.

Location: San Francisco, USA. Must be based within a 50-mile commute of the office and work onsite at least four days per week.

Salary: $158,400 – $258,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead engineering efforts to build business-critical products for publishers and buyers on the Monetize platform.
• Design and implement scalable, high-quality solutions for a real-time platform with strict constraints (< 100ms).
• Architect and own significant areas of the distributed real-time platforms.
• Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering leads to define feature requirements and specifications.
• Mentor junior engineers on software development best practices and conduct rigorous code reviews.
• Support and debug production-level issues for a system handling over 5 million QPS.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire and every two years thereafter.
• Experience building high-performance, multi-threaded, distributed systems, preferably in a Linux environment.
• Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and time complexity.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of professional software development experience.
• Deep expertise in C, C++, or Java.
• Experience with Rust or Go.
• Solid understanding of service-oriented architecture (SOA) and generalized architecture patterns.
