Location: Hybrid. Must be based in the US (Bellevue, New York, San Francisco, or Washington DC). Requires in-person onboarding and travel to San Francisco or Chicago during the first week.

Salary: $162,000 — $249,000 USD

What you will do

• Own all technical aspects of the data services tier, ensuring 24x7 availability of production databases.
• Design and implement operational processes, configuration management, and documentation.
• Scale and tune infrastructure across self-managed MySQL, RDS Aurora, and CloudSQL.
• Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform and configuration management via Chef.
• Perform deep analysis to optimize database schemas, indexes, and SQL queries to meet SLAs.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, National, Lawful Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee) to access federal environments.
• Proven experience as a MySQL DBRE with in-depth knowledge of internals and query optimization.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and scripting skills.
• Experience with database monitoring tools like Grafana.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• AWS Certified Database - Specialty or similar cloud certifications.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or other RDBMS.
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes in the context of database deployments.
• Proficiency in Linux internals and performance tuning.
