Location: Remote, USA with travel to Mississauga and/or Salt Lake City offices required for onboarding, team events, semi-annual and annual meetings.

$120,000 - $162,000 a year

What you will do

• Work on observability of MySQL database metrics and ensure performance and reliability objectives are met.
• Identify areas of operational toil with DBA team and implement automations to manage MySQL systems at scale.
• Apply data-driven approach to performance tuning, availability improvements, and operational optimization.
• Provide database support to Engineering and SRE teams including review of migrations, query performance, schema improvements, and standardizing configurations.
• Assist with performance troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.

Requirements

• 3+ years experience with relational database systems
• Strong hands-on MySQL experience (administration, performance tuning, replication, HA/DR)
• 1+ years in DBRE or database-focused engineering role
• Experience in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure — Azure preferred)
• Coding and automation experience (Python, PowerShell, SQL, etc.)
• Experience with IaC tools such as Ansible and Terraform
• Experience with Git
• On-call or after-hours work required

Nice to have

• PostgreSQL experience
• Experience with VLDBs (1+ TB) and large database fleets (100+ instances)
• Experience with Git, Jira, Azure Cloud, Grafana, NoSQL technologies
