IT Director

TL;DR

IT Director (Infrastructure): Provide technical oversight for IT infrastructure, platforms, and services across multiple European sites with an accent on standards, architectures, and best practices. Focus on leading and mentoring teams, driving automation and efficiency, managing projects, and ensuring high availability, security, and compliance.

Location: Based in hirify.global Cork, Ireland Office (travel to other sites across Europe required)

What you will do

• Provide technical oversight for IT infrastructure including servers, networks, endpoints, and enterprise applications.
• Define and enforce technical standards, architectures, and best practices; review system designs and changes.
• Lead, mentor, and manage IT engineers, administrators, and support staff; drive performance and skill development.
• Ensure high availability and reliability of IT services; lead root cause analysis and preventive actions.
• Drive automation, operational efficiency, and delivery of IT projects with cross-functional teams and vendors.
• Act as technical point of contact for stakeholders; translate requirements into solutions and provide updates.
• Ensure adherence to security policies, regulations, and compliance; support audits and risk assessments.

Requirements

• 18-20 years of progressive IT experience with emphasis on enterprise IT infrastructure.
• Minimum 6 years in technical leadership or people-management, managing engineers or support teams.
• Proven experience managing large-scale, multi-site or global IT environments and infrastructure modernization.
• Strong hands-on knowledge in Windows Server, Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy.
• Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix), storage/backup (SAN/NAS, Veeam, Commvault).
• Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform); monitoring and logging platforms.
• Bachelor's in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
