TL;DR

Lead R&D Engineer (Medium Voltage Power Distribution): Managing engineers and leading design, analysis, and validation of medium voltage switchgear and components with an accent on 3D modeling, manufacturability, and regulatory compliance. Focus on driving NPI projects, optimizing performance and cost, and fostering team innovation through mentorship and peer reviews.

Location: Tualatin (OR), Franklin (TN), Jacksonville (FL)

What you will do

Lead design, analysis, and validation of medium voltage power distribution products like metal clad switchgear.
Manage and mentor engineers and designers, track timelines, and ensure quality deliverables.
Drive on-time NPI project performance while minimizing design errors.
Conduct peer reviews and provide feedback to improve design quality.
Collaborate with manufacturing to optimize designs for manufacturability.
Facilitate communication across engineering and operations teams and sites.

Requirements

Bachelor’s in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (MSME preferred); 10+ years in R&D/product development in power distribution.
Experience leading projects in medium voltage systems, including electrical, thermal, and mechanical aspects.
Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD; sheet metal design; knowledge of IEEE/ANSI, CSA standards desirable.
Leadership experience in mentoring, innovation, and custom engineering environments.
Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.
Excellent communication for cross-team collaboration.

Nice to have

CFD or FEA experience.
Familiarity with low voltage switchgear or utility systems.
