What you will do
- Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing guidance on 3D SolidWorks modeling, 2D AutoCAD drafting, and design standards.
- Design and customize mechanical solutions for client requirements, focusing on manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with IEEE/ANSI C37.20 and UL 891/1558.
- Perform advanced 3D modeling and create detailed 2D drawings, including fabrication documentation and client coordination drawings.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, manufacturing teams, and cross-site stakeholders to align designs with project goals and timelines.
- Review designs for accuracy and quality, conduct peer reviews, and provide technical support during manufacturing and installation.
- Develop project-specific workflows, templating, and automation to improve throughput and reduce errors in BOMs and production.
Requirements
- BSME or equivalent required, MSME preferred; 5-7+ years in mechanical design, preferably design-to-order or custom engineering.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Pro E; experience with sheet metal design and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) a plus.
- Knowledge of medium voltage switchgear, power industry standards (IEEE/ANSI C37.20, UL891/1558, NFPA70E).
- Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration across teams; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Experience mentoring juniors and working in custom engineering environments strongly preferred.
