Manufacturing Engineer (Furniture)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; onsite manufacturing environment

Salary: CAD 75,000–85,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, implement, and continuously improve manufacturing processes addressing capacity, quality, safety, ergonomics, and environmental requirements.
• Develop and update production routings, labour standards, capacity models, process descriptions, and work instructions.
• Provide project support or leadership for new product introductions and materials testing and planning.
• Contribute to plant-wide cost-reduction and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Prepare technical reports, perform quality inspections, and communicate production, safety, and quality issues.
• Maintain ISO procedures, shop-floor controls, 5S standards, and workplace safety protocols.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 2–4 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience.
• Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge of manufacturing operations, environmental compliance, industrial hazards, and workplace communication.
• Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 9001; experience with ISO 14000 auditing and implementation.
• Experience with continuous-improvement tools such as kaizen, mistake-proofing, standard work, problem solving, pull systems, 5S, setup reduction, and TPM.
• Ability to work across shifts, flexible hours, weekends, and overtime in a manufacturing environment involving noise, dust, heat, PPE, and regular lifting.

Nice to have

• P. Eng. designation.
• Black Belt or Lean Belt certification.
• Experience or knowledge in furniture, woodworking, or finishing.
