Technical Manager R&D (Cloud)

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and manage work packages for funded research projects such as Horizon Europe and Digital Europe.
• Design sovereign, secure, and scalable cloud architectures for AI/HPC, Data Spaces, Edge Computing, and Web3.
• Create and prioritize epics and user stories to manage the technical backlog in coordination with research partners.
• Conduct requirement analysis workshops and derive technical designs for consortia and public clients.
• Serve as the central technical point of contact for internal teams, subcontractors, and EU authorities.
• Evaluate emerging technologies to incorporate findings into product roadmaps and represent the company at professional conferences.

Requirements

• Completed studies in IT and fluency in both German and English.
• Several years of experience designing cloud architectures (compute, storage, network, IAM, security).
• Proficiency with Kubernetes, container technologies, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in backlog management (epics, user stories) at the intersection of product, engineering, and research.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently and result-oriented within technological and business innovation contexts.

Nice to have

• Experience in EU or national R&D projects, specifically in managing technical deliverables and consortium coordination.
