Switchgear Application Expert (LV/MV Distribution): Acting as senior technical escalation point for complex pre-sales and post-sales inquiries on switchgear, switchboards, and distribution products with an accent on protection & controls, standards compliance, and manufacturability at scale. Focus on reviewing specifications and single-line diagrams, leading cross-functional resolutions for production and field issues, and driving improvements to designs and processes.

Location: Onsite or remote role; offices in Fremont CA, Jacksonville FL, Portland OR (United States); Surrey BC (Canada); occasional travel to facilities or sites; flexibility for cross-time-zone meetings.

What you will do

• Serve as primary Application Expert and technical liaison across Sales, Engineering, Production, Field Services, Quality, and Product Management for complex switchgear applications.
• Validate pre-sales inquiries, quotes, CDEs, and custom requirements against standards, UL procedures, and hirify.global offerings; flag risks and propose alternatives.
• Support production, engineering, and order review by reviewing designs, resolving defects, and ensuring code compliance and manufacturability.
• Provide post-sales troubleshooting, handle customer escalations, and assist Field Services with diagnostics and root-cause analysis for site events.
• Deliver feedback to Product Management and R&D on trends, participate in design reviews, and lead initiatives for standards and process improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) or equivalent.
• 5+ years in application engineering, design engineering, or field service for LV/MV switchgear or power distribution equipment.
• Strong knowledge of three-phase power systems, protection/controls, communication protocols, NEC, UL 891/1558/508A, IEEE/ANSI standards.
• Proficiency in reading single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams; AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Root-cause analysis skills and ability to explain complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
• Manage priorities in fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Power system analysis and protection coordination tools experience.
• Prior deep technical support, field service, or product engineering for LV/MV equipment.
• Familiarity with data center, industrial, or utility high-reliability applications.
