TL;DR

Director of Sales, Target & Drug (CPG): Driving expansion and growth across Target and Drug channels by owning end-to-end commercial strategy and P&L management with an accent on senior buyer relationships and team development. Focus on optimizing trade investment, developing operating infrastructure for retail channels, and scaling sustainable, profitable results.

Location: Remote (US). Strong preference for candidates based in or near the Minneapolis metro area due to monthly travel requirements.

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 base salary

What you will do

  • Own the commercial strategy, investment priorities, and go-to-market approach for Target and Drug channels.
  • Manage full P&L accountability, including trade investment, promotional ROI, and margin discipline.
  • Lead and coach two direct reports to become commercially sharp account leaders.
  • Elevate and manage senior buyer relationships at Target, CVS, and Walgreens.
  • Build and maintain end-to-end operating infrastructure, including promo grids and execution standards.
  • Identify cross-channel insights and build a pipeline for incremental items and category expansion.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of CPG sales experience with direct HQ-level management of Target and drug channels.
  • Proven track record of full P&L accountability across major retail accounts at scale.
  • Experience managing and developing account-level direct reports within a CPG sales organization.
  • Deep command of Target's merchant structure, multi-buyer architecture, and JBP process.
  • Proficiency with Target systems (POL, Roundel), Drug platforms (STIBO, VFM, ExtraCare), and syndicated data tools (SPINS, Nielsen, IRI).
  • Ability to build complex financial models and senior-level presentations independently.
