TL;DR

Design Engineer - Power Conversion (Electrification): Designing and developing advanced power conversion systems for electrified power trains and zero-emissions products with an accent on DC chargers, bi-directional inverters, and control interfaces. Focus on prototyping, debugging, and validating power electronic hardware to ensure performance compliance and production quality.

Location: Onsite in Mossville, IL (5 days a week). Domestic relocation available. Visa sponsorship is not available.

What you will do

• Design, model, and simulate power electronics systems, including inverters and converters.
• Develop comprehensive test plans, validation procedures, and documentation to ensure functional and performance compliance.
• Execute prototyping, debugging, and fault analysis for power electronic hardware.
• Collaborate with cooling, battery, PCB layout, and firmware teams to transition designs from development to production.
• Utilize laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, thermal cameras) for detailed root cause investigations.
• Interface with suppliers and manufacturing teams to implement Design for Testability (DFT) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).

Requirements

• Associates degree in Engineering; Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Hands-on experience with converter/inverter prototyping, test benches, and debugging.
• Strong understanding of DC-DC converters, AC-DC inverters, magnetics, and control algorithms.
• Proficiency with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or LTspice.
• Knowledge of power electronics standards and compliance (UL, IEC, ISO).
• Must be available to work onsite in Mossville, IL 5 days a week.

Nice to have

• Experience with automated test systems.
• Understanding of EMI/EMC testing, thermal design, and environmental validation.
• Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontroller-based converter control.
