Director, Distribution Engineering & Automation

TL;DR

Director, Distribution Engineering & Automation: Provide engineering management, facilities, and automation support for multiple distribution centers with an accent on process automation applications, capital projects, and continuous improvement. Focus on leading engineering teams, implementing new technologies, overseeing maintenance, and ensuring EH&S compliance and system reliability.

Location: Hybrid schedule (3x per week in office; Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) based out of Deerfield, IL. Ability to travel up to 50%.

Salary: $142,000 USD - $220,000 USD

What you will do

• Establish engineering expectations for automation and new technology, manage capital projects, and coordinate process development and training.
• Hire, train, direct, and evaluate industrial engineering team to meet company objectives.
• Develop EH&S strategy, capital expenditure budgets, processes, systems, policies, and design standards.
• Lead maintenance staff in equipment installation, repairs, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement across business units.
• Act as automation expert on project teams, provide 24-hour support, lead startups, and ensure technical documentation for systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or technical/manufacturing discipline.
• Minimum 8 years in distribution automation or site controls system integration.
• 3+ years project management experience.
• Experience in PLC automation control system start-ups, loop tuning, troubleshooting, and modifications using ladder and function block logic.
• Ability to travel up to 50%.

Nice to have

• Experience with Modicon PLC or NovaTech D3.
• Development, support, and troubleshooting of Fortna and Intelligrated software.
