TL;DR
Sales Executive - Author and Professional Sales (Academic Publishing): Prioritising product and customer opportunities across authors, networks, training providers, corporates, and institutions to achieve annual revenue targets with an accent on consultative sales account management and new customer prospecting. Focus on developing long-term strategies, liaising with internal stakeholders, and collecting market feedback to enhance content coverage and customer success.
Location: Must live within a commutable distance of the office in Milton Park, Oxfordshire, UK (relocating to Oxford city centre in late 2027/early 2028). Balanced working model with minimum 3 days per week in-person; flexibility to work from home otherwise. Willingness to travel extensively to conferences and book fairs.

What you will do
- Achieve and exceed annual territory sales targets for print and eBooks across consumer division channels.
- Manage accounts consultatively, combining long-term development with new customer prospecting.
- Liaise with content, marketing, credit control, and operations teams to maximise revenue opportunities.
- Maintain front-line relationships with authors and networks, supporting new customer solutions.
- Report on sales progress, market intelligence, competitor feedback, and pass leads to other T&F channels.
- Establish strategic short-, medium-, and long-term plans, upholding company trading policies.
Requirements
- Experience in sales environment with understanding of sales team demands.
- Knowledge of academic publishing or book trade.
- Competent in MS Office; basic copyright knowledge.
- Consultative sales skills, customer-focused, target-driven with budget management.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently.
- Language skills appropriate to territory; willingness to travel extensively.
