What you will do

• Plan the setup and operation of lathes, milling machines, shapers, grinders, and other machine shop tools.
• Repair, inspect, troubleshoot, sharpen, and optimize production tooling, dies, die sections, and punches.
• Verify dimensions, clearances, and alignment using micrometers, thickness gauges, gauge blocks, and dial indicators.
• Install and test dies, make adjustments, and compare finished products with specifications.
• Resolve assembly issues, support die setups and tryouts, and respond to production repair calls.
• Transport dies safely using overhead cranes and follow required safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Requirements

• Hold or be able to obtain a Journeyman classification as a Toolmaker.
• Alternatively, complete a bona fide apprenticeship accepted by UAW standards and provide supporting certification.
• Alternatively, demonstrate eight years of practical toolmaking experience through affidavits or work records.
• Ability to operate tooling machinery and overhead cranes safely.
• Ability to work to precise specifications and meet safety, quality, and production goals.
