Machinist - Backshift

Location: US-PA-Cheswick (EMD); candidates must be US citizens due to DoD requirements. The role is a union position assigned to one of three shifts, with training during the first/daylight shift.

EMD, a Curtiss-Wright business unit, designs, manufactures, tests, and supports critical-function pumps, motors, generators, seals, control rod drive mechanisms, and power conditioning electronics for the US Navy and commercial nuclear industry.

What you will do

• Machine large products to close tolerances.
• Operate manual and CNC machining equipment.
• Work with ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
• Operate horizontal and vertical boring mills, large turning equipment, multi-axis milling and turning equipment, and manual or CNC grinders.
• Support the manufacture and qualification of critical-function machining solutions.

Requirements

• Six years of machining experience preferred.
• High school graduation plus completion of a four-year machinist apprenticeship or equivalent.
• Experience machining ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
• CNC machining experience; programming experience is advantageous.
• US citizenship is required due to DoD requirements.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with CNC and manual horizontal or vertical boring mills.
• Experience with large vertical or horizontal lathes.
• Experience with multi-axis milling and turning equipment.
• Manual and CNC grinding experience.
• CNC programming experience.
