Production Engineer

TL;DR

Production Engineer (Broadcast): Providing best-in-class live television production support for NBCU with an accent on troubleshooting and maintaining hybrid SDI/IP infrastructures, routing, audio/video systems. Focus on resolving issues during live productions, supporting IP/streaming workflows, and collaborating with engineering and production teams.

Location: Lomas de Chapultepec, Paseo de la Reforma 115, CDMX, Mexico (onsite, full-time). Willingness to work evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays with little notice.

What you will do

• Provide technical support and maintenance for broadcast production environments with multiple studios and control rooms.
• Troubleshoot issues in routing, audio, video, intercom, graphics, replay, ingest, and IP/streaming systems during live and recorded productions.
• Support hybrid SDI/IP infrastructures including SMPTE 2110, multicast, VLANs, PTP.
• Operate virtualized systems (VMware/Hyper-V) and cloud-enabled workflows.
• Assist with scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for automation, troubleshooting, and log review.
• Monitor systems using tools like DataMiner, Datadog, Grafana; support contribution workflows (SRT, NDI, Dante/AES67).
• Document SOPs, workflows, diagrams, inventory per NBCU standards; adhere to security best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• 2–3 years experience supporting live production, streaming, or broadcast environments.
• Solid knowledge of SDI workflows and IP media transport; networking fundamentals (VLANs, multicast, PTP).
• Basic Linux/Windows knowledge; SRT, NDI, Dante/AES67, contribution tools.
• English - Intermediate.
• Strong customer service under time-critical conditions; documentation discipline.
• Interest in continuous learning in broadcast, IT, cloud technologies.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS Media Services, Azure, AMPP, Viz Now, cloud production.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, observability stacks (Prometheus/Grafana).
• Familiarity with Vizrt, Ross XPression, EVS, Evertz broadcast ecosystems.
• Automation via scripts/APIs; collaborating with remote international teams.
• Using AI tools for troubleshooting and documentation.
