Software Engineering Manager (Intercom)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States

Annual pay range: $180,000–$300,000 USD in on-target earnings for full-time employees, with potential additional bonuses and equity.

What you will do

• Lead the Intercom engineering team and scale the product line, roadmap, and strategy for expansion into new markets.
• Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews and contribute code or prototypes when needed.
• Develop engineers’ careers through hiring, mentoring, retention, and performance management.
• Guide the team in creating polished user experiences based on direct customer needs.
• Partner with Product and Design to define customer problems and deliver valuable solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders to set and execute goals, priorities, and processes.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience managing, leading, and inspiring engineering teams.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience focused on building product experiences.
• Deep understanding of enterprise SaaS and experience with both backend and frontend development.
• Working experience in an agile software development environment.
• Working knowledge of at least one server-side framework and one database system.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related engineering field, with strong product and design judgment.
