MySQL Database Administrator

Location: Columbus, OH; hybrid work arrangement

Salary: $150,000–$170,000 per year, plus a 5% variable annual bonus and potential RSU grant.

What you will do

• Administer and support multiple MySQL and sharded MySQL database clusters.
• Install, configure, upgrade, partition, back up, and monitor MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and ClickHouse clusters.
• Manage database capacity, perform proactive capacity planning, and optimize queries and database performance.
• Develop backup and recovery procedures and proactively identify performance bottlenecks and database risks.
• Administer ProxySQL and perform benchmarking across high-availability database environments.
• Collaborate with developers on schema, table, data type, index, procedure, and function design throughout the application development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 3 years of experience as a production Database Administrator.
• At least 4 years of experience with MySQL or Percona Server, CloudSQL, AWS RDS MySQL/PostgreSQL, and Aurora.
• At least 2 years of experience with PostgreSQL and ClickHouse.
• Experience with ProxySQL, Orchestrator, Percona XtraBackup, high-availability MySQL/Percona environments, and InnoDB tuning.
• Experience with Linux shell or Perl scripting, Python, large data volumes from hundreds of terabytes to petabytes, SingleStore, MongoDB, Percona XtraDB Cluster, Puppet, and Terraform.
