Salary: $169,000 - $214,000 USD (California target base range)

What you will do

• Advise Product and Engineering on privacy-by-design, AI governance, and regulatory risks across product lifecycle.
• Support global privacy compliance including GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, data subject requests, DPIAs, and incident response.
• Handle telecom regulations like FCC, TCPA, 911, international developments, and law enforcement requests.
• Partner on security certifications (ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI, HIPAA) and privacy-enhancing controls.
• Manage DPA/BAA negotiations, enterprise transactions, and marketing compliance.
• Contribute to IP via Patent Review Board and legal operations automation.

Requirements

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school; active bar membership in 1+ U.S. states
• 6+ years relevant legal experience, preferably law firm tech/privacy practice + in-house SaaS/tech
• Deep expertise in GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, privacy-by-design, cross-border transfers
• Familiarity with AI frameworks (EU AI Act, US state AI laws, FTC)
• Experience advising Product/Engineering on product, privacy, regulatory matters
• Experience with FCC/TCPA/VoIP or communications products; incident response

Nice to have

• CIPP/US, CIPP/E or equivalent privacy certification
