Director, Private Equity and Transactional Claims

Location: Hybrid position based in New York, NY or Warren, NJ, with 3 days in the office and 2 remote days. Travel is approximately 0–25% depending on business needs.

Base salary: $130,000–$180,000 annually, depending on education, experience, qualifications, and work location.

What you will do

• Manage and resolve complex primary and excess representations and warranties (R&W) and private equity claims with autonomy and sound judgment.
• Perform detailed coverage analysis and prepare clear, persuasive coverage position letters.
• Develop negotiation, settlement, litigation, and arbitration strategies for high-value disputed claims.
• Direct outside counsel and oversee legal strategy, budgets, mediations, settlement conferences, and trials.
• Set case reserves and prepare detailed Large Claim Reports for senior leadership and key stakeholders.
• Partner with underwriting, brokers, insureds, reinsurers, and business leaders to identify claims trends and improve products, pricing, and risk strategies.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of private equity and transactional liability claims experience.
• Strong analytical, organizational, investigation, negotiation, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to evaluate coverage across varied loss scenarios and resolve complex disputed claims strategically.
• In-depth knowledge of litigation, arbitration, and trial processes, as well as insurance claims, legal, and regulatory practices.
• Currently holds or can readily obtain all required adjuster licenses.
• Ability and willingness to present to senior management and other stakeholders; a currently licensed J.D. and legal practice experience are preferred.
