Contracts Paralegal (Architects, Engineers, Construction)

Location: Hybrid at an EPIC office in Alpharetta, GA; Chicago, IL; McLean, VA; New York City; or St. Louis, MO. Preference is given to Alpharetta, GA. The role may involve limited travel to client locations throughout the United States.

Salary: $90,000–$105,000 base annually, with potential bonuses and benefits.

What you will do

• Review design, consulting, and construction contracts to identify contractual risk exposures and advise on insurability and mitigation strategies.
• Negotiate and finalize contractual risk and insurance provisions with clients, counsel, customers, and other stakeholders.
• Coordinate with broker teams on insurance requirements, policy interpretation, claims, and complex risk management issues.
• Assist clients with recognizing and reporting claims and circumstances across applicable coverage lines.
• Monitor client losses, liaise with insurance carriers, prepare claim summaries, and manage claims review action items.
• Support pre-renewal and renewal activities and contribute to the Risk Management Team.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in contract administration, claims review, risk management, or legal services for the architecture, engineering, or construction industry.
• Paralegal certification and an associate degree or higher.
• Strong contract drafting, revision, and negotiation skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams while managing confidential information and competing priorities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice to have

• Insurance industry experience.
• Property and Casualty agent or producer license or other professional designations.
• Willingness to obtain the IRMI Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist designation within one year of hire.
