Calibration Technologist I

TL;DR

Calibration Technologist I (Automotive Engines): Performs engine and vehicle calibration, testing, data analysis, and validation with an accent on base engine calibration, fuel systems, turbocharging, EGR, and emissions optimization. Focus on supporting calibration engineers in compression ignition and spark-ignited engines, vehicle drivability, torque modeling, OBDII diagnostics, and after-treatment systems.

Location: Ann Arbor, MI, US (offsite in Michigan). Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Employer will not sponsor work visas.

What you will do

• Perform engine and vehicle calibration, testing, data analysis, and validation within project teams.
• Prepare specifications, technical plans, and project reports ensuring data quality and compliance with standards.
• Coordinate technical development, scheduling, and resolution of engineering test issues.
• Define, execute, and support engine performance and emissions R&D activities.
• Support customer meetings and other duties for project success.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in engine or automotive technology; 0-3+ years postgraduate experience.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements, compression ignition engines, spark-ignited direct injection/PFI engines.
• Experience in base engine calibration, fuel systems, turbocharging, EGR, emissions optimization, cold start, drivability, torque modeling, OBDII, after-treatment (DPF, DOC, SCR).
• Proficiency with tools like ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, Vector CANape/CANalyzer, hirify.global Drive/Cameo/Concerto, Mototron MotoTune/MotoHawk, MS Office.
• Effective communication, accountability, and efficient delivery.
• Physical abilities for testing: lifting, standing, walking, repetitive motions.
