Sr SQL DBA (SAP Environments)

Sr SQL DBA (SAP Environments): Administer, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server databases across dev/test/prod environments supporting critical business applications including SAP, with an accent on high availability, clustering, performance tuning, and security. Focus on managing Always On Availability Groups, disaster recovery configurations, monthly patching/upgrades with minimal downtime, and providing basic SAP Basis support like ABAP dump analysis and batch job monitoring.

Location: Pittsburgh, PA, US (4 days a week in office, no remote candidates). Must be a US Person, no sponsorship offered. Relocation offered. Subject to ITAR regulations.

What you will do

• Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases across development, test, and production environments;
• Manage SQL clustering, Always On Availability Groups, and disaster recovery setups;
• Perform patching, upgrades, migrations with minimal downtime, and monitor performance to resolve issues;
• Implement backup/recovery strategies and collaborate with app/infra/security teams for reliability and compliance;
• Provide basic SAP Basis support including system admin, ABAP dumps, batch jobs, and performance tuning;
• Develop automation scripts, monitoring tools, documentation, and participate in on-call rotation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent;
• 7+ years hands-on SQL Server DBA experience in enterprise environments;
• Strong experience with SQL upgrades, clusters, Always On groups, performance tuning, query optimization, indexing;
• Windows Server admin and Active Directory integration;
• Database security, compliance, patching/upgrades/migrations;
• Basic SAP Basis experience: system admin, batch jobs, ABAP dumps, performance tuning;
• Analytical troubleshooting skills.

Nice to have

• PowerShell scripting, Azure SQL, cloud SQL services;
• Monitoring tools like SCOM, Redgate, SolarWinds, Idera;
• ITIL processes, change management, SAP Security.
