Capture Manager - Science & Technology (S&T)

Capture Manager - Science & Technology (S&T): Build and lead R&D-focused business with DoD and U.S. Government labs by identifying early-stage opportunities, shaping customer problems, and driving capture from engagement to award with an accent on market strategy, proposal development, and customer relationships. Focus on monitoring solicitations, developing capture plans, translating technical capabilities, and transitioning R&D to operational programs.

Location: Work full-time onsite out of Washington D.C. office. Regular travel required (25–50%) for labs, meetings, demonstrations, and HQ coordination. Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance required.

Salary Range: $140,000 - $180,000

What you will do

• Monitor opportunities across R&D channels like BAAs, CSOs, SBIR/STTR, and build a qualified pipeline with DoD labs.
• Conduct research on customers, programs, competitors, and develop strategic/tactical capture plans aligned to business goals.
• Align engineering roadmaps with customer needs and participate in planning sessions.
• Lead win themes, narratives, and content for proposals, white papers, and abstracts, coordinating contributors.
• Engage customers at Pentagon, labs, test sites via meetings, visits, demos, and conferences to build trust and validate concepts.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of U.S. Government acquisition (FAR, non-traditional R&D paths).
• Experience supporting Federal R&D proposals with success in low TRL awards.
• Experience building stakeholder trust, translating needs, and driving execution.
• Exceptional communication, strategic judgment, and risk assessment.
• Ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Nice to have

• Existing U.S. security clearance (Secret+).
• Direct experience with DoD/USG labs (DARPA, ARL, AFRL, ONR).
• Experience with BAAs/CSOs, OTA, SBIR/STTR transitions.
• Technical background in radar, RF, sensing, communications, autonomy, weapons.
• Experience transitioning prototypes to programs of record.
