Grid Estimator

TL;DR

Grid Estimator (Electrical Infrastructure): Prepares and reviews lump sum, unit rate and cost plus estimates ranging from simple cost analysis to definitive estimates in support of proposals, project controls and project change orders with an accent on substation, transmission, distribution, and switchyard projects. Focus on developing quantities from design scope, performing productivity analysis, preparing contingency and escalation, and maintaining historical cost data.

Location: Onsite in Overland Park, KS; Garner, NC; Houston, TX; College Station, TX; Ann Arbor, MI (US). Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days. Relocation eligible: Yes. Visa sponsorship: No.

What you will do

• Prepare conceptual estimates, perform cost analysis, and coordinate and consolidate estimates.
• Review design scope, develop quantities, and perform productivity analysis.
• Prepare contingency, escalation, reconciliations, and management presentations; develop estimate basis.
• Update and maintain historical cost data; compare scope, quantities, and costs between projects.
• Review designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggest alternatives.
• Support continuous improvement efforts and change management.

Requirements

• 6 to 20 years of relevant experience, including some estimating experience.
• BS or MS in Construction Management or related field preferred.
• Field and/or project experience is a plus.
• Complete pre-employment onboarding: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search.

Nice to have

• InEight and other estimating software skills.
• Microsoft Excel and Access proficiency.
• Complex estimating principles, cost analysis, mathematical skills.
• Project design scopes, consulting, analytical skills.
• Interpret specifications and contracts; good communication and presentation skills.
