What you will do

• Manage the full lifecycle of complex substation projects, including conceptual design, engineering analyses, and feasibility studies.
• Lead project specifications, technical evaluations of contract bids, and comprehensive design reviews.
• Act as the primary technical authority when interfacing with external contractors, equipment vendors, and public agencies.
• Provide leadership and coaching to technical teams, facilitating knowledge transfer and setting technical direction.
• Support internal departments regarding land acquisition, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with management to ensure project delivery meets safety, quality, and budgetary objectives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 8 years of cumulative experience in electrical engineering and substation design.
• Proven expertise in substation physical and/or protection/control design and industry codes.
• Demonstrated success in managing large-budget, complex infrastructure projects and cross-functional teams.
• Must be based in or able to work in Oakland, CA.

Nice to have

• Current Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Deep experience across the full substation lifecycle, from planning to commissioning.
• Strong communication skills for delivering technical presentations to senior leadership.
