Data Product Owner

Location: Nottingham-based Hybrid (40% in the office)

What you will do

• Own and prioritise backlogs for data products including curated datasets, analytical models, data services, and internal platforms.
• Partner with stakeholders in data engineering, analytics, architecture, governance, and business to translate outcomes into data product requirements.
• Define and maintain product documentation like PRDs, data contracts, schemas, lineage, dictionaries, and usage guidance.
• Write user stories and acceptance criteria covering data quality, performance, scalability, and regulations.
• Collaborate with delivery teams in sprints, reviews, and retrospectives to deliver incrementally.
• Ensure data product readiness with documentation, quality checks, sign-offs, and operational handover.
• Support analytics and downstream teams by communicating capabilities, constraints, and usage.

Requirements

• Experience as Product Owner or Manager with data platforms/products, turning complex data into requirements, plans, and documentation.
• Knowledge of data product management: modelling, metadata, quality, lifecycle governance.
• Experience with data governance, privacy, regulatory obligations.
• Strong stakeholder management to align technical and user teams.
• Comfortable in advanced Agile with data engineers, analysts, architects, governance teams.
• Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, Aha.
