Finance Controller (Costa Rica)

Location: Must be based in Costa Rica (Remote)

What you will do

• Manage the monthly close calendar and sign-off for both US and Costa Rica entities.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany activities.
• Lead end-to-end quarterly external audit processes as the primary point of contact.
• Oversee reporting packages for the parent company, ensuring alignment with accounting policies.
• Implement new financial processes to drive continuous improvement and workflow efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners on variance analysis and budget validation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in financial reporting or accounting.
• Advanced English proficiency (written and spoken) is required.
• Experience in a supervisory capacity overseeing external accountants or service providers.
• Advanced Excel proficiency including modeling and pivot tables.
• Ability to manage high-pressure audit environments and multiple complex priorities.

Nice to have

• CPA certification or active CPA-track candidacy.
• Big 4 accounting firm experience.
• Familiarity with Costa Rica labor law and CCSS reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.
