Systems Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles): Architecting and verifying complex functional, logical, hardware, and software systems for an autonomous public transit network with an accent on safety and system reliability. Location: Remote with required travel to Richmond, CA (approximately 1 week every 2 months)
Salary: $180,000β$250,000 USD plus stock options

What you will do
- Decompose top-level functions and features into clear, testable system requirements.
- Drive system architecture and design alignment using trade studies and data analysis.
- Define verification and validation (V&V) strategies at the integrated system level.
- Conduct hazard analyses, FTA, and FMEA to anticipate and mitigate system risks.
- Collaborate with Safety Engineering to contribute to the functional safety case.
- Partner with autonomy, embedded, hardware, and operations teams to ensure actionable requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- 6-10+ years of overall experience in a relevant industry.
- 3+ years of dedicated experience in systems engineering or system architecture.
- Strong foundation in requirements, architecture, and verification/validation.
- Proven ability to work across large, multi-disciplinary technical teams.
Nice to have
- Masterβs degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering.
- Experience with safety-critical systems and ISO 26262.
- Background in autonomous vehicles, robotics, or complex hardware/software integration.
- Proficiency in Python and data analysis.
- Experience with systems engineering tools such as Jama, SysML, or DOORS.
