TL;DR

Mechanical Engineering Co-op (Wearable & Biomedical Devices): Developing wearable and biosensing technologies within the skincare space with an accent on prototyping, testing, and data analysis. Focus on interpreting physiological signals and refining sensor-enabled systems for health and wellness applications.

Location: Must be based in or work 5 days per week onsite in Needham, MA. There is no relocation or housing assistance provided.

Salary: $27 - $40 USD per hour

What you will do

  • Support research, ideation, and exploration of wearable and biomedical product opportunities in the skincare space.
  • Apply biomechanics, signal processing, and control systems to solve real-world engineering challenges.
  • Collect and analyze physiological data (ECG, PPG, EMG, etc.) to inform design and performance decisions.
  • Utilize MATLAB and Python to visualize trends and develop analytical tools and models.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers and designers to align technical insights with user needs.
  • Contribute to the full product lifecycle, from early concept and prototyping through validation.

Requirements

  • Current student in a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate program, or a recent graduate (within the past year).
  • Ability to work a full-time, 40-hour-per-week schedule, 5 days per week onsite in Needham, MA.
  • Coursework or project experience in biomechanics, signal processing, or control systems.
  • Working knowledge of MATLAB and/or Python for data analysis and algorithm development.
  • Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering and physics, including thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
  • Understanding of medical device design principles regarding safety, usability, and reliability.

Nice to have

  • Experience with developer kits such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
  • Experience with biocompatible materials, electrodes, or skin-contact sensors.
