Optics-Physics Sensor Engineering Co-op (Spring 2027)

What you will do

• Support research and development of precision inertial guidance and imaging instruments.
• Contribute to electro-optical design and optical and thermal model development.
• Test and evaluate optical, photonic, electronic, and material components.
• Design and fabricate custom optical evaluation setups.
• Assemble, test, and debug optical and electronic hardware systems.
• Use tools including LabVIEW, MATLAB, SolidWorks, COMSOL, ANSYS, Mentor Graphics, Python, and GitLab.

Requirements

• Current student in physics, materials science, or electrical engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Hands-on engineering experience.
• US citizenship is required.
• H1B and Student Visa holders cannot be hired, and dual citizens are not eligible.
• The six-month co-op runs from January through June 2027.

Nice to have

• Experience with optical design, thermal control, electro-optic component testing, circuit theory, technical assembly, or machine-shop interaction.
• Experience with Excel, ACAD, LabVIEW, MATLAB, Mentor Graphics, Python, or GitLab.
