What you will do

• Contribute to the concepting and development of Shark products through brainstorming, sketching, and prototyping.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, designers, and product managers to solve real-world consumer challenges.
• Build, test, and iterate prototypes and lab rigs to validate performance, usability, and reliability.
• Analyze testing data and consumer feedback to optimize product functionality and inform design decisions.
• Support CAD modeling, design feasibility analysis, and technical documentation.
• Participate in technical deep-dives and design reviews to resolve root causes of engineering challenges.

Requirements

• Current student or recent graduate (within 1 year) in a mechanical engineering or related degree program.
• Must be able to work 5 days per week onsite in Needham, MA.
• Strong foundation in mechanical engineering/physics (thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mechanical design).
• Proficiency in CAD software, specifically Solidworks and/or Creo.
• Hands-on experience with prototype development in plastic and metal using machine shop tools.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively.

Nice to have

• Experience with 3D printing and laser cutting.
• Familiarity with electronics (analog/digital) and small appliance components (sensors, motors, PCBAs).
• Experience with developer kits such as Python, Arduino, or Raspberry Pi.
