What you will do

  • Own end-to-end payroll operations for US (multi-state) and Canadian employees across semi-monthly and bi-weekly cycles.
  • Lead payroll system operations in Workday, including configuration of deductions, withholdings, and building reports.
  • Manage equity compensation payroll events (RSUs, NSOs, ISOs), ensuring proper taxation and reconciliation.
  • Support month-end close by preparing journal entries and reconciling payroll-related GL accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with US federal, state, local, and Canadian provincial payroll regulations.
  • Drive process improvements and automation to strengthen internal controls and support SOX compliance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience managing payroll specifically within Workday.
  • Proven experience running full-cycle payroll for both US (multi-state) and Canadian employees.
  • Deep understanding of equity compensation taxation and reporting (RSU, NSO, ISO).
  • Strong knowledge of US payroll tax laws and working knowledge of Canadian regulations.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs for large datasets.
  • Experience working within SOX-controlled environments.
