System Engineer (OpenStack)

System Engineer (OpenStack): Developing, operating, and maintaining a large-scale OpenStack platform across multiple datacentres in the Netherlands with an accent on automation and infrastructure reliability. Location: Hybrid (Leiden, Netherlands) — must be able to work from the office at least one day per week.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain core OpenStack services for a public cloud environment.
• Automate infrastructure management using Python, Bash, and Ansible.
• Configure and manage Linux systems and containerized environments.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize system performance and reliability.
• Contribute to code reviews (Merge Requests) and improve internal tools.
• Collaborate within a SCRUM team, participating in daily stand-ups and sprints.

Requirements

• ~3+ years of proven hands-on experience as a system engineer.
• Strong understanding of Linux operating systems and networking.
• Experience with Python and automation tooling like Ansible.
• Practical experience with containerization and microservices architecture.
• Understanding of DevOps principles and complex interconnected services.
• English: Proficiency required as the primary language for technical communication.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in the Dutch language.
