What you will do

• Translate deep customer understanding into intuitive and elegant frontend experiences.
• Architect and build a rich document editor featuring real-time multiplayer collaboration, including CRDTs and presence indicators.
• Partner closely with Product and Design teams to shape the product from ideation through delivery.
• Develop performant, maintainable, and well-tested code using TypeScript and React.
• Drive software design decisions to manage technical complexity as the product grows.
• Iteratively ship features, measure real-world impact, and refine based on usage.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production experience with React, TypeScript, and the modern frontend ecosystem.
• Must be based in San Francisco for a hybrid work arrangement.
• Expertise in using AI-augmented engineering tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude) to accelerate development.
• Previous experience working at early-stage, product-focused startups (ideally <50 people).
• Strong product instincts with a focus on user journeys, accessibility, and business outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience with rich text editors or collaborative frameworks like Slate, ProseMirror, Yjs, or Liveblocks.
• Familiarity with regulated domains where data privacy and security are critical.
• Track record of open-source contributions or sharing knowledge with the engineering community.
