Project Buyer (Aerospace & Defence)

Project Buyer (Procurement): Managing the supply chain for mission and safety critical equipment in the aerospace and defence industry with an accent on bid support and New Product Introduction (NPI). Location: Cheltenham, UK. Must be able to work in the UK without restrictions and be prepared to undergo UK National Security Vetting

What you will do

• Consolidate costings for bid activity and negotiate competitive pricing with suppliers.
• Act as the primary Supply Chain stakeholder for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Design teams to optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM).
• Project manage the sourcing and procurement of NPI components to ensure timely delivery.
• Build and maintain strong strategic relationships with suppliers and monitor their performance.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance cost-efficiency in bid support and NPI delivery.

Requirements

• Proven experience in procurement or project buying, ideally within the aerospace or defence sector.
• Experience managing NPI projects and working with design teams on DFM activities.
• Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Eligibility to work in the UK without restrictions and ability to pass UK National Security Vetting.

Nice to have

• CIPS qualification or equivalent procurement certification.
• Experience in other regulated industries such as automotive.
• Knowledge of lean practices and continuous improvement methodologies.
