What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance core backend APIs.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to translate business goals into scalable technical solutions.
• Contribute to system architecture decisions and ensure long-term platform stability.
• Establish and uphold engineering best practices, focusing on testing, code quality, and performance tuning.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers to foster a high-performance, growth-oriented team culture.
• Participate in cross-functional strategy discussions to evaluate technical feasibility and implementation paths.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in backend API development
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin or equivalent statically typed JVM languages
• Deep expertise in designing and maintaining RESTful APIs using domain-driven design principles
• Solid knowledge of SQL databases, including complex schema design and performance tuning
• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced startup environment
• Proven experience in mentoring engineers and team collaboration

Nice to have

• Experience with the Spring framework and Hibernate.
• Knowledge of the U.S. payments ecosystem (debit, credit, ACH).
• Familiarity with AWS infrastructure and Terraform.
• Interest in cryptography or blockchain fundamentals.
• Experience productionizing generative AI features.
