Software Engineering Manager (IoT)

Location: Greenville, South Carolina, United States; employees work from the office 4 days a week

What you will do

• Manage a team of 5–7 full-stack software engineers working on smart home security systems.
• Lead development of backend services, websites, database solutions, and integrations for connected devices.
• Oversee projects involving security-event processing, equipment provisioning, monitoring-station signaling, and testing automation.
• Set project timelines, generate work, manage priorities, and deliver large-scale cross-functional projects.
• Provide technical mentorship and develop a positive, respectful, and inclusive engineering environment.
• Collaborate with engineers, non-engineers, and executives across diverse technical areas using Agile methods.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong technical leadership, mentorship, communication, and people-management skills, including hiring and developing engineering teams.
• Strong object-oriented programming skills with C# required; backend-leaning experience on full-stack teams is preferred.
• Experience with database design and development, networking concepts, physical systems, and scalable service-oriented architectures.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities, assess technical tradeoffs, and deliver high-quality projects under pressure.

Nice to have

• Experience working across C#, .NET, SQL Server, Kafka, Ember, and native iOS or Android applications.
