Software Engineering Manager (Web)

Location: Hybrid; report to a specific location at least 3 times per week in Austin, Texas or Warren, Michigan

What you will do

• Lead and manage one or more software development teams building GM Loyalty platforms and earn/redeem experiences.
• Translate business strategy into team priorities, roadmaps, delivery plans, and measurable outcomes.
• Hire, coach, mentor, and support the career development of engineers.
• Guide architecture, software engineering practices, quality, security, scalability, and operational excellence.
• Manage concurrent projects, dependencies, risks, blockers, reporting, and on-time delivery.
• Lead performance tuning, integrations, deployments, production troubleshooting, incident resolution, and AI adoption.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 10 years of software development experience and 5+ years of leadership experience developing teams.
• Experience with web technologies including .NET Core or Spring Boot, Angular or React, microservices, REST APIs, Azure or other cloud platforms, GitHub, and Jira.
• Experience with messaging middleware such as Azure Event Hub or Kafka, plus PostgreSQL and SQL.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration, communication, technical leadership, and production debugging skills.
