Solutions Engineer (Database)

Location: Remote across EMEA or North America

Base salary: $160,000–$250,000 USD annually, plus variable compensation where applicable, benefits, and equity.

What you will do

• Partner with Sales and Customer Engineering across pre-sales and post-sales engagements as a database technical expert.
• Lead technical discovery, architecture discussions, and proof-of-value projects aligned with customer outcomes.
• Design and execute migrations to hirify.global PostgreSQL and Vitess platforms.
• Assess workloads and recommend database architecture, sizing, performance, and optimization strategies.
• Build scripts, tools, and automation to accelerate migrations and customer onboarding.
• Create technical documentation, guides, workshops, videos, and other educational content while advocating for customer needs with Product and Engineering.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on production experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, or 5+ years supporting customers with these workloads.
• Deep knowledge of replication, high availability, sharding, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and migration strategies.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider: AWS, GCP, Azure, or OCI.
• Previous customer-facing technical experience as a Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, or Technical Account Manager.
• Ability to write scripts and tools in Python, Go, or JavaScript.
• Experience creating technical content such as documentation, tutorials, or blog posts.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS Database Migration Service, logical replication tools, Vitess, database sharding, or distributed databases.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, cloud-native architectures, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Open-source contributions, database community participation, or public speaking experience.
