TL;DR

Software Engineer (Backend Services): Developing and scaling multiplayer backend services for AAA and mobile game titles with an accent on cloud infrastructure and high-concurrency performance. Focus on building distributed microservices, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and integrating AI-driven tools into development workflows.

Location: Must be based in the UK or EU.

What you will do

  • Develop and deploy robust backend services for commercial game projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define architecture and implement features.
  • Build and maintain internal tools to support company-wide development processes.
  • Manage cloud infrastructure and ensure high-availability for concurrent users.
  • Promote engineering excellence through rigorous testing, documentation, and CI/CD practices.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to technical design discussions.

Requirements

  • Location: Must be UK or EU based.
  • Professional experience in game backend development for commercial titles.
  • Proficiency in at least one of: Java, Golang, C#, C++, or Kotlin.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Knowledge of microservices, Kubernetes, Docker, and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
  • Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and source control systems like Git or Perforce.

Nice to have

  • AWS Certification (Associate or above).
  • Experience using LLMs and Generative AI for code generation and data processing.
