Salary: $228,000 – $288,000

What you will do

• Lead the design and implementation of ML infrastructure and tooling to streamline the experimentation-to-production lifecycle.
• Apply deep expertise in statistics, probability, and optimization to ensure model robustness and explainability.
• Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership on architecture and ML best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and security, to identify new opportunities for AI integration.
• Stay at the forefront of academic and industry research to influence engineering and product strategy.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, including 4+ years building and deploying production-grade ML models.
• Strong command of ML fundamentals, including linear algebra, calculus, and loss function optimization.
• Proficiency in at least one language such as Python, Go, or Java, and frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Hands-on experience with MLOps, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Demonstrated ability to solve noisy data problems and manage precision/recall tradeoffs.
• Must be able to work onsite 3 days per week in Oakland, California.

Nice to have

• Experience applying LLMs to production software, including fine-tuning and prompt engineering.
• Knowledge of vector/graph databases and applied RAG strategies for large-scale datasets.
• Experience building agents, MCP servers, or supervising AI agents.
