What you will do

• Lead and mentor a high-performing full-stack engineering team, fostering a culture of ownership and growth.
• Function as a hands-on player-coach, contributing production code while defining technical strategy.
• Drive the decomposition of monolithic architectures into modular, distributed, API-first services.
• Design and deploy resilient, event-driven architectures using AWS serverless technologies and infrastructure as code.
• Establish and enforce best practices for observability, reliability, and distributed system communication.
• Partner cross-functionally with product and engineering leadership to align technical roadmap with business objectives.

Requirements

• Minimum 8 years of professional software development experience.
• Must be legally authorized to work in one of the approved 40 US states or Ontario, Canada.
• Proven track record managing or leading engineering teams in a fast-paced setting.
• Deep hands-on experience with API-first workflows, distributed systems, and AWS.
• Ability to balance hands-on coding with architectural leadership and management responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue).
• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails backend environments.
• Experience in regulated industries like insurance or fintech.
• Exposure to big-data technologies such as Looker or BigTable.
