Engineering Manager (AI)

Location: Remote in the United States

Salary: $160K–$294K base pay, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead the technical direction and people outcomes for a team of 3–4 engineers building high-traffic consumer credit card marketplace experiences.
• Drive architecture, technical decisions, planning, milestones, and modernization across frontend and backend systems.
• Build the team’s AI developer harness and orchestrate agentic workflows across specification, development, QA, code review, and deployment.
• Manage engineers through 1:1s, feedback, career development, growth plans, and performance management.
• Partner with Product, SEO, Paid Marketing, Business Development, Data, and Analytics stakeholders to connect engineering work with business outcomes.
• Improve performance, observability, scalability, security, developer experience, platform resilience, and incident response.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with a strong hands-on technical leadership background.
• Expertise in TypeScript, React, Node.js, Next.js, web performance, Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO.
• Experience architecting scalable backend APIs and microservices, including SQL and NoSQL database systems and high-volume data processing.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and production observability.
• Knowledge of security and compliance practices, particularly in financial services.
• Hands-on experience with AI development tools, development harnesses, agentic workflows, and spec-driven development.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience integrating machine learning systems, personalization pipelines, and data-driven experimentation.
• Finance or shopping marketplace domain knowledge.
• Understanding of accessibility, usability, paid search, and organic search strategies.
