TL;DR

Payroll SME (Payroll): Managing and optimizing payroll operations and reporting suites to ensure accurate and timely compensation with an accent on data integrity and compliance. Focus on analyzing complex datasets, identifying payroll trends, and supporting strategic decision-making through robust reporting and audit activities.

Location: Must be based in the UK; Hybrid role with 3 days per week in the Snowhill, Birmingham office.

What you will do

  • Develop and maintain payroll reporting suites, dashboards, and KPIs for operational performance.
  • Analyze large, complex datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and compliance risks.
  • Produce insightful commentary on headcount, costs, and payroll variances for senior leadership.
  • Support audit activities, controls testing, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with HR, Digital, and Finance teams to ensure consistent data quality.
  • Assist with payroll system testing to ensure output accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Must have the right to work in the UK.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools such as SQL, Excel, or Power BI.
  • Proven experience working with large data volumes and payroll-related outputs.
  • Working knowledge of payroll processes, statutory rules, and SAP payroll systems.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret complex data and present actionable insights to stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a large-scale enterprise or corporate payroll environment.
  • Prior involvement in continuous improvement or payroll automation projects.
