Salary: $267,000–$401,000 per year plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and lead a world-class team of engineers and scientists to deliver production-grade ML/AI applications.
• Translate business needs into scalable ML solutions with clear, measurable outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership on algorithms, architectures, and MLOps tooling.
• Manage the end-to-end ML lifecycle from data pipelines and feature engineering to production deployment.
• Contribute to strategic planning and the development of the Applied Science roadmap.
• Coach and mentor team members while fostering a culture of engineering excellence and responsible AI.

Requirements

• 9+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning, AI, or software engineering.
• 3+ years of experience managing teams of engineers and data scientists.
• Extensive experience designing scalable backend systems and secure software engineering practices.
• Deep expertise in search, retrieval, recommender systems, and AI agents.
• Proficiency in Python and provisioning cloud-based infrastructure (AWS preferred).
• Must be able to work in the San Francisco Bay Area with 3 days per week in-office.
