What you will do
- Lead and line manage a cross-functional team of ~5 engineers across backend, web, and mobile domains, providing coaching and mentoring.
- Engage in full software development lifecycle including requirements gathering, building, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Drive continuous improvement of product, processes, and engineering practices to reduce friction and waste.
- Implement and advocate automated testing, continuous integration, and continuous deployment.
- Collaborate across specialisms and assist in technologies beyond core expertise as needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience leading engineering teams with line management responsibilities.
- Strong programming and problem-solving skills with knowledge of software design patterns and paradigms (OOAD, DDD, MVC, microservices, containers, event-driven architecture).
- Experience delivering performant, scalable, secure, and well-tested code.
- Location: Must be able to work hybrid with minimum 50% office presence in Manchester and Bristol, including initial full-time office period.
- Ownership mindset with ability to clear roadblocks and collaborate effectively.
- Experience with investment or pensions platforms is advantageous.

- Prior knowledge of Go, gRPC/proto, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, Docker, TypeScript, Vue, Dart, and Flutter.
