What you will do

• Lead and own the business-critical Messaging Platform responsible for all outbound communications.
• Build and evolve a shared, multi-channel messaging backbone to abstract provider-specific complexity.
• Ensure messaging remains reliable, scalable, and compliant as volume and business requirements grow.
• Translate engineering strategy into a clear, outcome-driven roadmap balancing scalability and new capabilities.
• Drive operational excellence through improved monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement.
• Partner with Product and other Platform teams to maximize impact across the organization.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading and growing engineering teams.
• Strong people leadership skills with a focus on coaching and developing experienced engineers.
• Ability to lead teams through ambiguity and turn strategy into execution and measurable outcomes.
• Strong technical background with the ability to confidently set technical direction.
• Experience operating business-critical systems in cloud-native environments.
• Must be based in the United Kingdom, Ireland, or Portugal.

Nice to have

• Experience with Node.js (NestJS) and microservice-based architecture.
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and GitOps-style deployments (ArgoCD).
• Knowledge of AWS infrastructure and messaging systems (AWS SES, SMTP, Postfix).
• Experience with observability and developer tools like Sentry, LaunchDarkly, and Cursor IDE.
